Saturday turned out to be a very good day to shoot. A bit windy, but no more so than usual at the range. We had 12 shooters, mostly in the custom class this time and many shooting more than one category.
We welcomed two new shooters to the match (Derle Marchus and Ryan Ivesdal) and hope they will return for many more.
Al Schirado was there to get some other practice in and decided to shoot the match with his Dasher. He would have done quite well had he not fired 20 shots into each target instead of the required 10! He took it in stride and we’ll try to let him live that one down.
After the match, Tim Liebel was mowing the grass on the Cowboy side and ran into a soft spot, sinking the tractor. Yours truly had tow straps, so I volunteered to tow him out. Not a good idea. Sank up to the axles, too. We enlisted Ryan to help. He got me pulled out and we doubled up the tow straps, hooked them to the tractor and pulled it out. My truck shimmied all the way home. Turned out that all the mud encrusted in my wheels was throwing off the balance. Blasting with a water stream fixed the problem.
